DC Gear-Motor Actuation

In response to customers’ demands for more valving options, Scivex® introduces a complete line of high pressure (2,500 psi [172 bar] and higher), medium pressure (approximately 1,000 psi [69 bar]), and low pressure (500 psi [34 bar] or lower) actuated valves specifically for OEMs.

· Rotational accuracy of ± 2° for low/medium pressure actuators, ± 0.5° for high pressure actuators
· Standard actuation time for high pressure valves of less than 100msec for a 60° actuation
· Optical encoding ensures no tolerance procession between actuations
· Long life, durable performance – over 1 million actuations for NanoPeak™ Valves
· Lower cost compared to typical stepper-motor actuator assemblies
· More compact than similar stepper motor based actuators

Key to the design of these actuators is the DC gear motor. This motor produces higher torque with lighter weight and a smaller “footprint” than our previous actuators, plus these additional characteristics:

· Multiple configurations to suit most fluidic needs
· Safety tested and rated to conform to ETL, CSA and CE specifications
· Controller board identical for all valve/actuator combinations, allowing for hardware and programming commonality
· Control via standard RS-232 interfacing or TTL compatible contact closure
· Virtually unlimited daisy-chaining while maintaining independent communication with individual valves
· Easy-to-use commands for rapid integration into existing software platforms

Gear motor actuator safety ratings:

· ETL – through testing which conforms to the UL 61010A-1 standard
· CSA – through testing which conforms to CAN/CSA-C222 No. 1010.1-92
· CE mark – through testing which verifies the valves conform to both IEC/EN 61010-1:2001 and EN 50081

Custom options, including stepper-motor-actuation, are also available.
